Lyrics: Ross Copperman Holding On And Letting Go

Is anybody out there?

Is anybody listening?

Does anybody really know if its the end of the beginning?

The quiet rush of one breath

Is all we waiting for

Sometimes the one we’re taking

Changes every one before..

[Chorus]

It’s everything you wanted, it’s everything you don’t

It’s one door swinging open and one door swinging closed

Some prayers find an answer some prayers never know

we’re Holding on and letting go

Sometimes we’re holding angels

And we never even know

Don’t know if we’ll make it, or we know…

We just can’t let it show

[Chorus]

It’s everything you wanted, it’s everything you don’t

It’s one door swinging open and one door swinging closed

Some prayers find an answer some prayers never know

we’re Holding on and letting go

Yeah, we’re letting go, oho

It’s everything you wanted, it’s everything you don’t

It’s one door swinging open and one door swinging closed

Some prayers find an answer some prayers never know

we’re Holding on and letting go….

oho……..oh………oh…….whoa……..

[Chorus]

It’s everything you wanted, it’s everything you don’t

It’s one door swinging open and one door swinging closed

Some prayers find an answer some prayers never know

we’re Holding on and letting go…..

  5. I think in the first verse, it’s:

    Sometimes the one we’re taking
    Changes everyone before…

This makes the most since to me since I think he’s talking about someone in the process of dying. Having recently been in this situation and seeing how everyone responds differently to seeing a loved one dying…

Nevertheless, I think the song reaches beyond just that scenario and speaks to the conflicted feelings of loss and renewal that everyone has at various times in their life in dealing with difficult and challenging times. I think it’s a brilliant, moving song.

  7. Inspiring song! Perhaps the lyric in the first verse goes like this instead:

The quiet rush of one breath
    Is all we’re waiting for
    Sometimes the one we’re taking
    Changes every one before

Rather than using “everyone” in the last line, choosing the alternative “every one” could refer back to the quiet rush of “one” breath

  8. Was catching up on my recorded shows and kept re-running the song at the end… like Candice, couldn’t get it out of my head. So I “binged” for the lyrics and came across Candice’s link.

Being very cosmic (transpersonal Jungian therapist.. also trained massage therapist, ritualist, and healer) my reaction to the music and lyrics was a huge spiritual WOW!

Thanks for the link candice- made my night!
